When we realize our insignificance in this world,
it some how relieves the pressures from society to succeed -

The Shack
Where Tragedy Confronts Eternity

Being a self-proclaimed 'Recovering Catholic', and coming from a background where I had the Catholic religion shoved down my throat at all times of my childhood, I had my reserves about reading a book recommended to me by my mother which was about God.

Needless to say, this book, The Shack, by WM. Paul Young, is probably one of the best books I have ever read in my adult life. Now it's hard to give a review and not give away the plot or the story, but I would go as far as to say that I would recommend this book to any and everyone I talk to. No matter what your religious background is, you'll draw something from this story.

I'm not too sure if the younger kids would understand the depth of the story, and might get a bit lost, but anyone older than their late teens would be able to comprehend the novel and its undertones. Especially for anyone who has kids of their own, or has lost a loved one. I know it made me look into many parts of my past that I've always had trouble with and look at them with new found meaning.

If there is one book you buy, or read over the course of the next few months, make it this one. At only 200 some odd pages, I was able to read through it in an afternoon, and was moved so much by the meaning I took from the book, I know it has changed my life for the better in every way possible. How many books can you name that have done that for you?

Be warned, it's a tear jerker, so it might not be one you want to be sitting on the plane reading or trying to get through in the lunch room. This book is more the type to brew a nice pot of tea, curl up with the biggest, warmest blanket and be prepared to dive into your soul. When you emerge, you'll be glad you did.
