If you're looking for something to do, or trying to plan a vacation with a fun filled event or concert to coincide with your time off; we thought we'd put together a good listing of the major events, concerts and festivals around North America that might grab your attention.
Most of these events would be more enjoyable with an RV in tow so you don't have to worry about lodging or hotels booking up too fast. One thing you want to remember is if you are planning on attending any of these sure to be fun times, make sure you have tickets, campground information and the details far in advance. Many sell out months before the actual event takes place.
If the event has a website, we have provided a link to their site in the listing. If you have a event that you'd like listed, feel free to shoot us an email and if we think it fits this genre of fun living, we'll post it up here. If you know of an event we haven't listed and think it might be up our alley, feel free to let us know and maybe we can head on over to cover it for the site.

Cedar Key Star Party - February 8th - 13th - Cedar Key, Florida - Cedar Key Museum State Park is hosting Public Stargazing and Slide Shows Monday, February 8 and Friday, February 12. Daytona Bike Week 2011 March 4th - 14th - Daytona Beach, FL - The "World's Largest Motorcycle Event" rolls into Daytona Beach for 10 days featuring motorcycle shows, exhibits, concerts, racing at Daytona International Speedway and street festivals. Bike Week has been designated a Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event. Comparable to Sturgis, only with palm trees and a salt water beach to cool off in.
Mardi Gras 2011 March 8th - New Orleans, LA - Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is the final day of Carnival, which begins on the Feast of the Epiphany, Jan. 6. Also known as Kings' Day or Twelfth Night, Jan. 6 celebrates the arrival of the three kings at Jesus' birthplace, thus ending the Christmas season. And in New Orleans, simultaneously starting Carnival. This festival of fun finds its roots in various pagan celebrations of spring, dating back 5,000 years. In New Orleans, the last few days leading up to Fat Tuesday are the rowdiest and best to attend if you only have a short time to visit. Plan on lots of people, being on your feet for many hours at a time, and seeing lots of breasts!
Iditarod 2010 March 6th-10th Wasilla, AK - You can’t compare it to any other competitive event in the world! A race over 1150 miles of the roughest, most beautiful terrain Mother Nature has to offer. She throws jagged mountain ranges, frozen river, dense forest, desolate tundra and miles of windswept coast at the mushers and their dog teams. Add to that temperatures far below zero, winds that can cause a complete loss of visibility, the hazards of overflow, long hours of darkness and treacherous climbs and side hills, and you have the Iditarod. Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival - April 9th - 11th, Ponchatoula, LA - 3 days to eat as many strawberries as possible. For over 30 years, the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival has provided a venue as the largest fundraiser for non-profit and charitable organizations. The festival prides itself as being one of the only festivals in which non-profit organizations are the only vendors on the official festival grounds.

Memphis Blues Festival 2010 - April 30th, May 1st & 2nd - Memphis, TN - The Beale Street Music Festival has been nominated for a Concert Industry Award for the Music Festival of The Year, and was named by Playboy Magazine as one of the Fun 2000 events - a "must-do list" for the new millennium. Kentucky Derby 2010 May 1st - Louisville, KY - The Kentucky Derby is a stakes race for three-year-old thoroughbred horses, staged yearly in Louisville, Kentucky on the first Saturday in May, capping the two-week-long Kentucky Derby Festival. Bishop Mule Days 2010 May 24th - 29th - Bishop, CA - Every year during the Memorial Day Weekend, more than 700 mules compete in 181 events at the Bishop Mule Days Celebration. 41st Annual Cedar Key Seafood Festival - October 15th 17th - Cedar Key Florida - This major event features well over 200 arts and crafts exhibits, and great local seafood food in City Park. There will be live musical entertainment at several places around town during the days and nights, and a parade on Saturday morning.
Fantasy Fest October 22nd - October 31st - Key West, FL - If you've never heard of Fantasy Fest in Key West, then you've probably been living under a rock for the past decade. This is another festival like Burning Man and Mardi Gras that is a MUST SEE for any traveler who enjoys their parties wild, and likes to get shed their clothing....LOL Plan on seeing lots of nudity and probably coming home with a different outlook on the Keys.
