Don't Believe Everything You Think

When we realize our insignificance in this world,
it some how relieves the pressures from society to succeed -

Expense Report for Every Miles A Memory

Since this was our first time doing something like this, we figured we'd keep a detailed log of what we spend our money on.  We wanted to know what was going where, and figured after a few months on the road, once things became routine, we'd then see where we could trim some expenses to save money while fulltiming.  Since we had originally budgeted ourselves for a two year journey, we wanted to see how well we could stick within our strict limits.  Since we've been on the road, we realized it's impossible to know what might come up and if we want to go see something that is over our budget, then we just say "Screw it" and go anyway.  We fell there is no need in missing anything while on a once in a lifetime adventure.

This means we might run out of money much faster then we had planned, but we've also come to the realization that we're never going to see everything we want to see in two years.  3 to 5 years is more like it, this means we'll probably have to stop a few times and get a job to keep our funds in order.  Full timing in an RV can be expensive this way, but it's amazing how easy it is to save money with boondocking and staying out of the city's.  We have found this is a fair trade off.

We first thought that if we were to stay in one place longer, we would save money on Fuel costs, but then we noticed it evened out because our Campground expenses would be so much higher.  It's hard to categorize some things, so if you have any questions as what a Heading might be, feel free to Contact Us and we'll do our best to explain it better.

This first year, our Phone and Broadband is very high, but we were in our last year of a contract that we had signed up for when we owned the restaurant.  We couldn't get out of it without paying through the nose, so we figured we'd just have to ride it out.  That high fee should go down considerably next year.  Other times you might see a month that is much higher then the rest.  This is usually because we have made a large purchase.  In June we made a few upgrades to the Tow Vehicle, added a few necessities to the Sunline and bought Cindy a new Camera.  All these things were large purchases, but they should last the length of the adventure and will end up saving us money in the long run.

We put this on the site incase someone else might be thinking of doing a trip comparable to ours.  We had learned valuable information from a few other sites that listed their expenses and we're able to realistically see where the money would be going.  If you have any suggestions on ways to save money, or see any areas that that you might have a few tips on, feel free to send them over.
