"We're looking at this adventure the same as taking a few years off work and going back to school to get a degree.  Only this is a lifetime experience degree" - Pat Bonish 3/07 Told to the Milford Times in a Newspaper article

For Those That Don't Know Me, Let Me Tell You A Little Bit About Myself

I was born and raised in Michigan.  The little village of Milford was my home till I turned 18 and the big city lights called me South.  I lived in South Florida with my older brother Rob for a few years where I met my wife Cindy.  Bartending, Valet Parking exotic cars in Palm Beach and living a fast paced lifestyle trying to teach myself photography, all while juggling a step-daughter and a wife caught up to me.

That picture is me at age 2 camping with my Parents.  You can say not too much has changed in these past 30 something years!

Cindy and I decided to slow down and moved back to my little home town of Milford in 1998.  We bought a house, and  took a break from the bar life while our daughter was in Junior High School.

Learning the excavating field, I was able to live a very comfortable lifestyle and Cindy was able to spend valuable time with our daughter without having to work full time for once.  That all changed when our life long dream of owning our own bar was fulfilled.

We bought the neighborhood bar in my home town and for the next six years we turned it into the Best Spot to be when you wanted to have some fun.  The stories, friends and memories we have collected from The Red Dog Saloon will keep us going for years, but with our daughter growing up and moving out on her own, we decided to call it quits and take some time off.  In this time my younger brother and I had started our own magazine which he now runs with a few other partners back in Michigan.  Check out the Smalltown Lowdown for some entertaining reading if you have the chance.

Cindy and I are best friends and love traveling around seeing new things and meeting new people.  Our goal is to own a little Dive Bar in the Caribbean when we're older and have exhausted our traveling desires (If that's possible...LOL).  For now, we want to travel this great country of ours, photograph beautiful sights and experience new things every day.  We love the outdoors and really enjoy meeting new people along the way.

My Hobbies/Interests:   Photography, Writing, Guns, Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Riding Motorcycles, Philosophizing, Reading, meeting new people and seeing new things; expanding my mind to new things that I've never seen before. I really love to learn and I'm willing to try almost anything once.

Dislikes: Negativity, Drama Queens, Feeling Sorry for Yourself, those that Complain of what they don't have, and those that blame others for their actions

My Favorite Music:  Country (The Sadder the Better), Blues, Jazz & anything with a steel guitar!  I love to go to concerts and music events.

Music Festivals are so much better when they're live and you can really feel the music.  Since our time in Louisiana, I've found a new love of Cajun Music.  This blend of Country, Jazz and Blues really hit a note with me and I couldn't get enough of it.  Louisiana and the Bayou Country was a great place to experience music for what it really is, a song and beat coming from the heart.

My Favorite Artists:  Kenny Chesney (the Be As You Are album is probably one of the best ever), Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Jack Johnson, Cowboy Junkies, Eric Clapton and really anything that has a funky beat to it.  That and a mandolin or a steel guitar and I'm hooked.

What Matters Most in My Life:  My Wife, our Daughter and our Family comes first!  That and liking what I'm doing.  Being Happy, because if you're not happy with what you're doing right now, then why are you doing it??

This is a bit of who I am.  I'm very easy to get along with and a happy go lucky kind of guy.  If it involves being outdoors, working with my hands or being creative, then count me in.  Give me a camera and point me in any direction, and I'll have a big smile on my face.  That is as long as I have Cindy by my side!
