Kenny Chesney
Lucky Old Sun - Deluxe Edition

A Blend of Sun, Steel Drums and Country Charm

You would think that a Country Music Legend would sing about cowboys, rodeos and losing a dog when the ol’ lady walked out with everything he owned. I guess when you’re one of the highest selling country artists, you stop worrying about following the masses, and do your own thing like Kenny Chesney did with this last album Lucky Old Sun.

If you follow Every Miles A Memory, then you know how many times I’ve referenced Kenny’s album Be As You Are. If I could only listen to one album for the rest of my life, it would be that work of art. Weird part was it got almost no radio play and most Kenny Chesney fans don’t even know it.

I guess at that point in his career, it wasn’t cool for a country music singer to sing about tropical beaches and sailing away on his boat in those warm Atlantic Ocean breezes with just a bong and some memories.

With his latest album, Lucky Old Sun, I'm guessing he thought it was time to relive some of those songs. Kenny brought back many of his steel drum friends, visions of his boat in the Virgin Islands where he spends much of his time when he’s not touring, and slow songs that make you want to throw it all away and head for the islands.

The more you live, the more you know…and the more you experience, the more you reflect on everything around you. You become more aware, whether you want to or not – So, as an artist and a songwriter, you look for ways to see it and tell people about it, to see if they’re going through the same things…The thing about Be As You Are is once you write an album about realizations, finding a new way to live, it changes how you do this.” Kenny says when asked of that amazing album I mentioned earlier.

Lucky Old Sun touches on many of those same thoughts, and this time Kenny brings in some good friends who share in the same experiences he does. With a few duets on this new album, one with Dave Matthews, one with The Wailers (of Bob Marley and the Wailers) and one with Willie Nelson. Something tells me that Kenny isn’t afraid to let his fans know he likes the ganja and just a bit of partying mixed in his fast paced lifestyle!

If you listen to this album, a big fatty might just be the prefect companion if you cant be floating on a teak topped sail boat watching that Lucky Old Sun sink into the tropical water of the Islands. In other words, another amazing album from one of my favorite artists in history.

If you like this album, You'll love any of these!!
