When we realize our insignificance in this world,
it some how relieves the pressures from society to succeed -

300
The Greatest Battle of the Spartans
Warner Bros. Pictures

If you haven’t seen this epic film yet, you’re really missing out. I’ll tell you right now that it’s the ultimate movie to make any man feel like a wimp. I don’t care if you’re Mr. Olympia himself, you’re going to look like a noodle compared to the littlest Spartan in this cast of mega hunks.

The movie is based on the comic book by Frank Miller (also titled 300) which is in turn based on the Battle of Thermopylae from ancient Greek times (480 B.C.). It’s shot in this funky, half comic book, half real film type of filming and is put together perfectly. When I saw the previews for 300, I thought “That’s just way to over the top”, but after watching it, I couldn’t get it out of my head for a few days. It reminded me of Sin City when I first saw that movie.

It’s not just a guy’s movie either, for the past few weeks, I’ve brought it up in almost every conversation I’ve had no matter who I was talking to, guy or girl. All who have seen it have said the same thing – “Could you believe their bodies?!”

The few other girls in the room we watched it with, were more excited about the film than most of us men were. If there was ever a movie to make you want to go to the gym, this is it. I think I actually started doing sit ups while watching it. The best part is, you get to learn a fascinating piece of history taught to you with some of the best filming and action I’ve seen in years.

Now if only the Michigan Spartans could play football like these guys, they might make it into the Pack 10!!
